A Spring Wedding... In The Welsh Med!

We were very excited to be heading to the stunning Portmeirion Village in North Wales for Kimberley and Anthony's Wedding on 7th March. Portmeirion was built between 1925 - 1975 by Clough Williams-Ellis to capture the spirit of the Italian Mediterranean and today is of the most popular destinations in Wales. The journey alone was sensational, driving through the breathtaking Snowdonia National Park and there were tiny lambs playing in the fields so we knew it was going to be a wonderful Spring day.

We were booked to play at Kim and Ant's Ceremony and Drinks Reception, and leading up to the Wedding the Groom Ant had contacted us in secret and asked us to learn a special song for Kim as they walked back down the aisle as Husband and Wife! The song turned out to be 'You're The One That I Want' from Grease and Ant had said Kim was a massive fan of the film and he felt it would be a light hearted moment and a bit of fun....and it certainly was!

Kim and Ant chose six tracks for their Wedding Ceremony and they were truly beautiful choices;

'Stand By Me' and 'You've Got The Love' as guests were waiting for Kim to arrive, bringing a mix of old and new.

'How Long Will I Love You' was an emotional moment for everyone as Kim walked down the aisle looking sensational in a vintage lace gown with ivory roses in her bouquet. Ant, looking a little nervous yet excited, wore a stylish suit with ivory tie to match Kim's bouquet. They looked elegant and beautiful together and overjoyed that the big day was finally here.

The signing of the register took about 8-10 minutes and we played a couple of tracks to keep a lovely atmosphere during those moments with the very apt Disney's 'Kiss The Girl' and 'If I Ain't Got You' by Alicia Keys.

Finally we played the secret song Ant had requested; 'You're The One That I Want', as a beaming Kim and Ant walked back down the aisle as the brand new Mr and Mrs McKee!

Once the Ceremony was complete we headed down to the Portmeirion Hotel to play a set during the Drinks Reception next to the terrace to create a gorgeous atmosphere as everyone sipped Champagne and had their photos taken. Unfortunately the mist has rolled in off of the Welsh coast but the Wedding Party braved the wind and headed outside for those all important group shots.

A massive congratulations to Kim and Ant, thank you for choosing us to play a part in your special day and we hope you have the most amazing Honeymoon in Italy!
